I don’t know the details on Sony xplod radios, but if it has a line-in or aux-in jack on the back then you should be able to make it work.

Good luck! It’s not a difficult install if you’re comfortable ripping things apart and using a soldering iron.

Googled “how to install stereo jack in dashboard” and your page was the first link. Awesome write-up. Got my parts, doing the install this weekend in 05 subaru legacy. Will post again with results.

Thanks for the great tutorial!

I was wondering, is it possible to skip the 1/8″ female (headphone extension) and just cut and solder the 1/8″ male (headphone to RCA) onto the Panel-Mount Audio Jack.

Would that work? or is it necessary to solder a female audio cable to the audio jack.

I did the exact same install as listed above. NO need for the line out extra part. It sounds great with my stock radio in my tahoe. thanks for the awesome instructions
